Two Posters and a Trailer for the Chinese Horror Flick Harpoon

This one opened in China yesterday (January 24th), but since it hasn’t opened in the rest of the world yet, I think I’m good to cover it. Right? At any rate, I’m always down for a badass Chinese horror flick, and Zhou Yaowu’s genre-centric endeavor “Harpoon” (aka “Jing Hun You Xi”) looks to be a lot of fun. And while I generally don’t go for the whole torture porn thing, I am curious to see how this one plays out. You might say that I’m biased, but I like to think that I’m just selective. Yeah, selective. I like the way that sounds. But, I digress.

Finding information about this particular title is tough, so you’ll just have to go into this one blind. Which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. My guess: Someone is going to get killed, and there’s going to be a lot of blood involved. At the end of the proverbial day, isn’t that all we’re really looking for in a torture horror flick? Don’t lie. “Harpoon”, which stars Hu Bing, Monica Mok, Li Lingyu, Wang Shuangbao, Bo Luzhi, Zhao Ming, and Li Haoxuan. When you’re ready, check out the trailer embedded below. And if you live in China, stop by your local theater and check it out. As long as you have the stomach for it, that is.

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at)
