I wasn’t really all that impressed with the “Kill Bill” movies when I initially saw them, but I’ve since seen them again and I gotta admit, they’re a lot better than I initially gave them credit for being. Oh sure, they’re still talky as hell, but complaining about a Quentin Tarantino movie being “too talky” is like bitching about why “The View” sucks so much. They just are. The one thing that really impressed me about the films? Uma Thurman’s performance. For a woman who isn’t exactly known for being a martial arts superstar (as in, at all), she really sold those moves, and the Tea House fight still ranks up there for me as some of the more incredible slicing and dicing good times on cinema.
All that is to say that Quentin Tarantino has been making noise about revisiting the Bride, Uma Thurman’s character from the two movies, and MTV caught up with Thurman and asked her what she’s heard. She was coy, but she did say this:
“We did chat, we did chat. He has not yet finished the script. I don’t even really know if he’s really started it, although I got a taste of some of his ideas and they are really good… He has started to share with me what he was thinking, and it’s awesome.”
It sounds like Tarantino is serious about this, and Thurman is down for coming back. That’s two for two, and they really don’t need anyone else. Well, it’ll be kind of hard to get anyone else, anyway, since everyone else, er, sorta all died in the two movies.
The Bride will return! Someday. Until then…
