Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune Game Headed to Big Screen
Uncharted: Drake's Fortune Movie — By Nix on June 26, 2009
I’ve seen commercials for the game, and seen the box cover in the stores, but I’ve never actually played Naughty Dog’s “Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune”. It’s apparently popular enough with the kids that they’re making a sequel, “Uncharted 2: Among Thieves”. Until the sequel hits stores, Columbia Pictures would like you kids to know that they plan to turn the game into an action-adventure movie, and has unleashed writer Kyle Ward to take a crack at it. If the name sounds familiar, that’s because yesterday we reported that Ward has also been assigned the task of writing a sequel to “Hitman”.
THR explains the game:
The story follows a descendent of explorer Sir Francis Drake, a treasure hunter named Nate Drake who believes he has learned the whereabouts of El Dorado, the fabled South American golden city, from a cursed golden statue. The search becomes competitive when a rival hunter joins the fray, then is racheted up several notches when creatures — actually mutated descendants of Spaniards and Nazis — begin attacking those hoping to learn the treasure’s true secrets.
Check out some screenshots from the game below. I guess he’s sort of like the male Tomb Raider, minus the short-shorts.
