Universal Knows Dark Horse’s Secret

Comic Book Movie News, Horror Movie News, The Secret Movie — By Nix on May 13, 2009

Because you can never have too many movies based on comic books, right? Universal Pictures and Dark Horse Comics are teaming up once again to adapt Dark Horse Comics publisher and writer Mike Richardson’s “The Secret” to the big screen. Yes, it is another comic book, but no, it’s not about superheroes. Instead, “The Secret” is being described as a teen horror thriller. How you like them apples?

“The Secret” was written by Richardson and drawn by Jason Shawn Alexander, and Variety describes it as being about a group of high school students involved in a prank that goes horribly wrong. This is the second comic book property Dark Horse has going over at Universal, the other being “The Umbrella Academy”. Scott Milam will adapt the comics for Universal.

Dark Horse describes the comic like this:

“I know your secret.”

Tonight is Tommy Morris’s big chance: he’s been invited to party with the social elite of Franklin High and maybe even hook up with Pam, the girl of his dreams. But when a prank call turns sour, Pam goes missing, and Tommy gets sucked into her disappearance deeper than he bargained for.

The Secret is a chilling coming-of-age mystery from Dark Horse founder Mike Richardson and Eisner-nominated artist Jason Shawn Alexander (Damn Nation; The Escapists).
