Yes, the boyos over at Platinum Dunes really will be remaking “A Nightmare on Elm Street”. And why wouldn’t they? They’ve already rebooted the “Texas Chainsaw Massacre” to great success, and changes are the “Friday the 13th” reboot will also see similar gold at the box office. So why not go all the way and make it a perfect remake trifecta with Freddy’s nightmares? Word from Collider.com in a red carpet interview with Platinum Dunes head honchos Brad Fuller and Andrew Form is that the remake is indeed happening, and they’re shooting for a 2010 release date, with casting announcements forthcoming.
While rumors have been online about when that movie might get made, on tonight’s red carpet they told me “Nightmare” is definitely their next project and we will hear casting and other info in the next month.
But it gets better for fans of “Nightmare”.
They said we can expect the movie to be in theaters early next year and the remake is going to focus on the first “Nightmare on Elm Street” movie.
Okay, I don’t know how this is “better” for fans of “A Nightmare on Elm Street”, as I would think that if you were a fan of the original, you’d just hate the idea of remaking the franchise with a red hot passion. So, on that account, Collider probably isn’t much of a fan of the original, but thanks for the update anyway, boys.
