Saw this coming. The USA Network has always had a pretty good record of giving all of their shows a shot at making it, even if they don’t perform well initially. Fortunately for them, they haven’t had a problem with their new spy show “Covert Affairs”, which has done gangbuster numbers for the cable network ever since its debut in July.
So it comes as no surprise that USA has renewed “Covert Affairs” for a second season, which will consist of 13 to 16 episodes.
“Covert Affairs” stars Piper Perabo as Annie Walker, a fledgling CIA agent who is plucked from training to work the field when the agency head honchos decide they need her to lure in one of their agents, who also happens to be Annie’s ex-lover (Eion Bailey).
The show co-stars Christopher Gorham as a blind CIA tech (and love interest) who assists Annie in her missions, former “Heroes” actor Sendhil Ramamurthy as a bureaucratic legacy agent (and sometimes partner), and Kari Matchett and Peter Gallagher as her married bosses, though I’ll be honest with you, I could do without the marital bickering and back and forth between them. It’s getting a little tiresome.
The show was created by Matt Corman and Chris Ord.
