Former Disney teenage princess Vanessa Hudgens, last seen in Zack Snyder’s “Sucker Punch”, will be continuing to move away from her Disney image when she joins the cast of “The Frozen Ground”, a film that will see her playing a would-be teenage victim of John Cusack’s Alaska-based serial killer.
Written and directed by first-timer Scott Walker, “The Frozen Ground” would star Cusack as Robert Hansen (his mugshot above, left), a real-life serial killer who was considered a respected family man until, well, he got caught killing a bunch of people. Hansen is believed to have killed over two dozen women before his capture, abducting and then flying them out to isolated locations of Alaska, where he would release them, then stalk and hunt them with either a knife or a rifle. Hudgens would in all likelihood play 17-year-old Cindy Paulson, the only victim to escape and lead authorities to Hansen.
Nicolas Cage will play an Alaskan State Trooper who finds Hudgens’ character on the street and convinces her to help him nail Hansen.
“The Frozen Ground” will shoot on location in Anchorage, Alaska this October.
