Wait, wait, try to wrap your minds around that, kids: the new horror movie anthology “V/H/S” isn’t just a Found Footage movie, it’s a Found Footage movie about a series of Found Footage movies within a Found Footage movie. I kid you not. Take a gander at the Red Band Trailer for the film below and tell me the whole genre hasn’t just eaten its own tail, spat it out, and decided to take another bite. The other thing to take away? It’s amazing what lengths people will go to to retain their hold on their camera and keep filming even while absolutely freaky and bloody shit is going on all around them — and in some cases, to them.
When a group of petty criminals is hired by a mysterious party to retrieve a rare piece of found footage from a rundown house in the middle of nowhere, they soon realize that the job isnt going to be as easy as they thought. In the living room, a lifeless body holds court before a hub of old television sets, surrounded by stacks upon stacks of VHS tapes. As they search for the right one, they are treated to a seemingly endless number of horrifying videos, each stranger than the last.
The anthology features directing by Radio Silence, Glenn McQuaid, Ti West, David Bruckner, Adam Wingard, and Joe Swanberg.
Wanna see it? It’s been doing the rounds on the festival circuit all year long, and will finally arrive in limited release October 5, 2012, but will be landing at a VOD retailers of your choice before that on August 31, 2012.
