Or at least, no hammers that I could see. Of course, “hammer” could just be allegorical or some such. I guess we shouldn’t expect to see Thor riding down from the sky and laying waste to the hordes of bad guys in the film. Check out the first trailer for Farren Blackburn’s “Hammer of the Gods”, which is coming Stateside later this month. As with most foreign imports, your chances of seeing this thing is paying for it through VOD and not so much in theaters.
By the way, the film co-stars Clive Standen, who is already playing a Viking on the History Channel TV series “Vikings”. I guess the dude just has that Viking look. Beats diggin’ ditches.
Set in Viking Britain in 871 AD, Hammer of the Gods is a visceral, intense tale set in a world whose only language is violence. A young Viking warrior, Steinar (Charlie Bewley), is sent by his father the king on a quest to find his estranged brother, who was banished from the kingdom many years before. Steinar’s epic journey across terrifyingly hostile territory gradually sees him emerge as the man his father wants him to be – the ruthless and unforgiving successor to his throne.
“Hammer of the Gods” also stars Charlie Bewley, James Cosmo, Elliot Cowan, Glynis Barber, Ivan Kaye, Michael Jibson, and Guy Flanagan.
Hammering onto VOD May 30th before opening theatrically in limited release July 5th.
