As you’ll recall, not all that long ago Latino Review posted a major Marvel scoop involving possible plot points for not only “The Avengers 2″, but also “The Avengers 3″ and the direction of the third “Hulk” movie. You can read all of that here. As always with these rumors — POTENTIAL SPOILERS.
The latest update on this comes from AICN, who puts the kibosh on all that Hulk Planet stuff. In fact, their sources aren’t just telling them that LR’s scoop was wrong, but that it was “1,000% inaccurate”. Which is, uh, pretty inaccurate. I mean, 1,000%? Not 100%? But 1,0000%? That’s going out on a limb there.
The main reason why a Planet Hulk and World War Hulk storyline just isn’t feasible, according to the site, is Marvel’s desire to continue using Mark Ruffalo as an integral part of all Hulk storylines. Obviously one of the reasons why the Hulk was such a crowdpleaser in “The Avengers” was precisely because the Green Goliath only had two scenes in the whole movie, so when he finally showed up, it was a real treat.
Those who have already read the Planet Hulk and World War Hulk comic books will know that Bruce Banner barely shows up in both story arcs. In fact, he’s mostly absent for all of them, which means, yes, not a whole lot of Mark Ruffalo. I guess putting him in mo-cap would be kind of wasting his talents, or at least, Marvel apparently feels that way.
So there you have it, the latest on the Planet Hulk/”The Avengers 2″. True? Untrue? I guess we’ll find out for sure when set images from “The Avengers 2″ starts leaking … whenever Joss Whedon starts shooting the sequel, that is.
