I made the mistake of seeing this in the cinema. I am not a fan of the ‘Nightwatch’ or ‘Daywatch’ films, but this looked like a sort of ‘Underworld’ meets ‘The Professional’ film – how dissapointing it was to see it didn’t even have the fun and excitement of ‘Underworld’.
I have to give points for trying, but the battle scenes were lacklustre and the the look and style was average.
Jolie was unimpressive and the main ‘hero’ was a complete joke.
I understand what they were trying to do, here’s a wimpy no hoper who is to be turned into an assassin through whatever means – a bit too much of a loser, I felt no desire to root for him, I wanted his adversary (his actual father) to ice him early on. The father was a far more interesting character as well.
The bullet ‘curving’ was unconvincing, the sheer premise rubbish and not realised effectively at all.
All that said, the plot was good and had good potential, but it was poorly executed and needs a remake/reboot.

Bodhi, my compliments. I’d say you nailed this one… bent bullets and all. I love the metaphor about it being the “guy version of a chick flick.” You’re quite right. Either we have to lower our standards and get used to movies following the “formula” or we’re going to have to get a message to Hollywood to change the f-in formula.
