It’s a rarity when we get a Hong Kong movie in Stateside theaters. A rarity still when that Hong Kong movie actually plays in a theater in a city other than the two coasts. I haven’t a clue if Herman Yau’s “Ip Man: The Final Battle” will be fighting it out in a theater near you, but you can always check your local listings and find out. If your town is known for its more artsy fare, then your chances are decent. If not? Well, there’s always VOD and Blu-ray, I guess.

Until then, check out a pair of trailers for “Ip Man: The Final Battle”, which chronicles the later years of Bruce Lee’s famous mentor. The film stars Anthony Wong, who needs no introduction if you know your Hong Kong movies. Dude is like the Robert De Niro of Hong Kong cinema or sumtin’.

In postwar Hong Kong, legendary Wing Chun grandmaster Ip Man (Anthony Wong) is reluctantly called into action once more, when what begin as simple challenges from rival kung fu styles soon draw him into the dark and dangerous underworld of the Triads.

Starring Anthony Wong, Eric Tsang, and Gillian Chung.

The film fights Stateside this September 20th.

    No Donnie Yen, no thanks!

Well that’s keeping an open mind. This isn’t connected to the Yen films, nor was The legend is Born – Ip Man, nor is the upcoming “The Grandmaster.” There’s just a serious interest behind the man that brought Wing Chun to the masses right now. Personally I will be getting them all.

You do realize this is supposed to be when he’s in his later years right? Like when he’s in his 50’s.
