Yes, you read that correctly. An 8-minute long trailer for David Fincher’s remake of “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”, based on the first of a trilogy of novels by the late Stieg Larsson. If the film hits it big with audiences, expect the rest of the series to follow. The film is getting great buzz from critics, much of it stemming from the showing of this extended trailer many months ago. It’ll be interesting to see if it connects with average audiences here, but also abroad, especially since Fincher doesn’t seem to have done anything too radically different from the Niels Arden Oplev original from just 2 years ago. That film, and its subsequent two sequels, launched the career of Noomi Rapace and were international hits.
Harriet Vanger, a scion of one of Sweden’s wealthiest families disappeared over forty years ago. All these years later, her aged uncle (Christopher Plummer) continues to seek the truth. He hires Mikael Blomkvist (Daniel Craig), a crusading journalist recently trapped by a libel conviction, to investigate. He is aided by the pierced and tattooed computer prodigy Lisbeth Salander (Rooney Mara). Together they tap into a vein of unfathomable iniquity and astonishing corruption.
Starring Daniel Craig, Rooney Mara, Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgård , Steven Berkoff, Robin Wright, Yorick van Wageningen, and Joely Richardson.
The feel bad movie of the year arrives December 21, 2011.
