While you still can, ahem.
Inevitably, someone snapped videos of the 30-seconds or so of footage from James Gunn’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” that was shown at Comic Con. I must have missed that they actually showed footage from the movie, but apparently the film has been shooting for a while now. Go figure.
I gotta admit, it looks pretty darn snazzy. I’m always worried about these comic book movies with too many aliens and wacky Gods, like the “Thor” movies. But Marvel went and turned “Thor” into something actually credible, and from the looks of these footage, they might have done it again with the “Guardians of the Galaxy” movie. Of course, putting most of the action in a dark room will, no doubt, hide much of the “cheese” factor when you’re dealing with wacky looking aliens.
And the Nova Corp., it appears, will be less powered than in the comic books. These guys just look like intergalactic cops led by John C. Reilly (in the vid) and Glenn Close. You can see them, in full helmet, from the set images we recently posted here and another pic below.
And oh yeah, in case you missed this morning’s news, Vin Diesel is in talks to play/voice the alien tree Groot.
“Guardians of the Galaxy” stars Chris Pratt, Dave Bautista, Zoe Saldana, Michael Rooker, Karen Gillian, Lee Pace, Djimon Hounsou, Benicio del Toro, and saves the day next year, August 1, 2014.
