Who says you have to be at San Diego to get the full big movie panel experience? Okay, so there’s really no substitute for the actual experience of being inside a massive Hall H surrounded by thousands of geeks (many of whom are, er, strangely dressed), or to see a major movie star live and up close. But hey, if you couldn’t afford the air fare for this year’s Comic Con, no worries, Sony has put out snippets from some of their big movie panels, including “Elysium”, “Resident Evil: Retribution”, “Looper”, “Total Recall”, and a curiously Smiths-less “After Earth”. I’m not sure what Sony was thinking even bothering with a panel for “After Earth” if no one of note was going to be there, but whatever, it’s their dime.
Director Neill Blomkamp was joined by producer Simon Kinberg and actors Sharlto Copley, Jodie Foster, and Matt Damon.
Director Len Wiseman was joined by his cast, Bryan Cranston (doing double duty, since he also has the “Breaking Bad” panel, too), Jessica Biel, Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale.
“Resident Evil: Retribution”
“Retribution” brought the whole house, including director Paul W.S. Anderson and stars Milla Jovovich, Michelle Rodriguez, Oded Fehr, Boris Kodjoe, and Mika Nakashima.
Writer/director Rian Johnson brought along stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Emily Blunt. Bruce Willis was too busy shooting “Die Hard 5” to attend, we’re told.
The Smiths-less panel offered up screenwriter Gary Whitta and DP Peter Suschitzky, along with writer Peter David, along with three others.
