Watch the First 3 Minutes of British Comedy-Horror Severance

Written by Nix | May 16th, 2007 | 1 Comment |

It started with “Shaun of the Dead”, and the Brits have continued churning out the comedy-horror. Their latest is “Severance”, which our very own James Mudge reviewed a while back, and really liked, and calls it, “one of the best British horror films in years.” High praise indeed! “Severance” is opening May 18th this Friday in the States, and they’ve sent us a couple of things to give you guys. The first is a three minute clip from the movie, images, and a URL to an online game where you get to show your, ur, “team motiviation skills” by decapitating a fellow employee. Fun stuff! Continue onward…

Working nine to five is a real killer, but teambuilding holidays can sometimes be even worse. A coach lurches out of the hustle and bustle of Budapest and heads towards the mountainous border. Aboard are seven employees of the international weapons manufacturer Palisade Defence, global suppliers of innovative weaponry for the past 75 war-torn years. The lucky group are being treated to a team-building weekend at the company’s newly built luxury spa lodge by their president, George Cinders. But things quickly go awry as the colleagues find themselves faced with the chop when their corporate weekend is sabotaged by a deadly enemy. Forget office politics, only the smartest will survive this bloody office outing.

“Severance” stars Laura Harris, Danny Dyer, Tim McInnerny, David Gilliam, Toby Stephens, and is directed by Chris Smith (“Creep”).

You can check out the “Severance” game here.

Awesome movie! Saw it on a movie-festival in germany last year. Scary, terrifying and hillariously funny at the same time. In my opinion “Severance” works even better than “Shaun of the dead”, because despite all the tounge-in-cheek-sarcasm and slapstick it never becomes a farce. At the core it still remains a dead serious movie. And there was more than one scene, where the audience kept cheering and applauding at the screen.
