Yes, three frames. Not three seconds, but three frames. I don’t think that’s even a second to be honest with you. But that’s what J.J. Abrams, director of “Star Trek Into Darkness” brought over to Conan on TBS recently. Oh, J.J. Abrams. You’re such a clever boy. Let’s hope this isn’t some new trend like trailers for movie trailers, though.
Apparently according to Abrams, the frames feature Spock (Zachary Quinto) in a fancy space suit either walking on top or inside of a volcano. A space volcano, no doubt. For a guy who is so notoriously secretive about all of his movies, it’s somewhat surprising to see him on a talk show promoting a movie that won’t open for months yet. Weird.
The film, co-starring Chris Pine, Zoe Saldana, Karl Urban, Anton Yelchin, John Cho, and new faces Benedict Cumberbatch and Noel Clarke, arrives May 17, 2013. We’re hoping there will be more than three frames then, but knowing that rascal J.J. Abrams, who knows, really.
In case you weren’t fast enough to catch it with your slow-witted eyeballs, here’s a quick screen grab of one of the frames, just as Conan predicted we would do. Nevermind the other two frames. They’re basically identical.
