Weekend Throwdown: Street Kings Vs. Teen Spam

Keanu Reeves awkwardly attempts to tame the mean streets of Los Angeles with cop buddy Chris Evans, while young, nubile blondie Brittany Snow attempts to evade a knife-wielding maniac at her high school prom. Who has the harder job? I’m gonna have to go with Reeves, being that, if the trailers are any indication, he probably learned his lines phonetically for the movie, and Brittany Snow was probably born to play the Final Girl in slasher movies, what with her huge, anime eyes and blonde hair. Here’s our weekend preview for this week’s movie releases, “Prom Night” and “Street Kings”.

Street Kings

Official Plot: Keanu Reeves is a disgraced cop who discovers corruption inside a police department and sets out on a mission to redeem himself.

FYI: Generic cop actioner with buckets of blood. I got yer hero cop right ‘ere.

Starring: Keanu Reeves, Forest Whitaker, Hugh Laurie, Chris Evans, Jay Mohr
Directed by: David Ayer

Prom Night

Official Plot: A horrible secret amongst a group of children comes back to haunt them in the form of a vengeful killer on their prom night.

FYI: A remake of a movie no one really remembers, or liked all that much to begin with.

Starring Brittany Snow, Johnathon Schaech, Brianne Davis, Kelly Blatz, Jana Kramer
Directed by Nelson McCormick

And the winner is … “Prom Night”. Three reasons: teen, horror, and prom. Kids love that crap.
