Weekend Pick: You Don’t Mess With the Zohan

By Nix | June 6, 2008 (11:12 am)

Sure, a lot of people will see “Kung Fu Panda” this weekend, but give me a funny Adam Sandler over talking animated pandas anyday. “You Don’t Mess With the Zohan” has Sandler playing a former Israeli Mossad super soldier who decides he wants to go to New York and become a hair dresser. He achieves this by faking his own death and disappearing to the Big Apple, though as you saw from the commercials, he doesn’t exactly keep a low profile. According to Sandler, he conceived of the movie idea over 8 years ago. And oh yeah, if you need more encouragement this thing could be very funny, some guy name Apatow is involved, too.

This is the story about a Mossad agent Zohan Dvir, who fakes his death so he can re-emerge in New York City as a hair stylist. He romances his clients by giving them “special services” in the back room. However, he is eventually recognized, and risks losing his newfound life and career.

Starring: Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider, Emmanuelle Chriqui, Nick Swardson, John Turturro
Directed by: Dennis Dugan
