Wes Craven’s Scream 4 Gets a Canadian Trailer

Apparently this is the Canadian trailer for Wes Craven and screenwriter Kevin Williamson’s return to the “Scream” franchise. It features some new footage not seen in the teaser trailer, and Craven and Williamson really seem to have piled on the post-modern hipness in this one. I guess at this point the franchise doesn’t have a whole lot of ways to go except mock itself and the horror genre. Oh sure, the previous three flicks did that too, but I don’t think it wallowed in its supposedly hipness like this fourth one seems to be doing. Sheesh, I hope there’s more to it than just a bunch of “teenagers” sitting around letting us know how much they know about horror movies.

Sidney (Neve Campbell) — now the author of a self-help book — returns home to Woodsboro on the last stop of her book tour. There she reconnects with sheriff Dewey (David Arquette) and his wife, Gale (Courteney Cox), as well as her cousin Jill (Emma Roberts) and her aunt Kate (Mary McDonnell). Unfortunately, Sidney’s reappearance also instigates more Ghostface killings and puts Jill’s high school friends in danger.

Starring David Arquette, Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox, Emma Roberts, Hayden Panettiere, Rory Culkin, Nico Tortorella, Marielle Jaffe, Marley Shelton, Mary McDonnell, Adam Brody, Anthony Anderson, Erik Knudsen, Alison Brie, Anna Paquin, Kristen Bell and directed by Wes Craven.

Hipping the crap out of you April 15, 2011.
