Yah, you heard correctly. I said “Mirrors 2”. As in, a sequel to the Keifer Sutherland horror movie “Mirrors” directed by Alexandre Aja that came out in 2008 and squatted a big fat egg. The lack of a box office punch ain’t gonna stop the Powers That Be, though. The sequel, set to star Nick Stahl (“Terminator: Rise of the Machines”), William Katt, and the oh-so-lovely Emmanuelle Vaugier (below), will be going direct-to-DVD courtesy of Fox Home Entertainment, according to STYD. So what’s the plot of this one? It goes something like this:
When Max, a recovering addict, takes a job as a night time security guard job at his father’s department store, he begins to see visions of a young woman in the store’s mirrors. Unsure whether his visions are side effects of his prescription sleeping pills or actual reality, he begins to look deeper into the source of the images in the mirrors. When employees of the store turn up dead and Max is a suspect in the murders, he must expose the girl’s connection to a scandal within the department store’s walls in order to prove his innocence and put a stop to the spirits in the mirrors.
I never actually saw the first one, but I did see the South Korean original that the Sutherland version was based on. Not a big fan of that version, either.
“Mirrors 2” will co-star Lawrence Turner, Stephanie Honore, Christy Charlson Romano, Jon Michael Davis, Evan Jones, Wayne Pere, Lance E. Nichols, Ann McKenzie and Jennifer Sipes. Victor Garcia will direct, with production already under way in Louisiana.
