When Movie Trailers Go Bad: Haunting of Molly Hartley

Written by Nix | August 28th, 2008 | 0 Comments |

If the IMDB.com listing for “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” is curiously devoid of a plot synopsis, you needn’t worry — just take a look at the trailer, and you’ll find out all you need to know. Basically, you’ll find out EVERYTHING, even if you wanted to know it or not. Yup, this is yet another example of a movie trailer that reveals way too much. The trailer for “The Haunting of Molly Hartley” pretty much reveals every little detail about the movie, even some of the film’s supposedly plot twists and revelations (hey, the boyfriend was in on it the whole time!).

And worst of all? For a horror movie trailer, it’s incredibly tepid and lacking in even the most basic of cheap scares. See if you can’t hear the lame final few seconds of the trailer coming a mile away. In fact, you can see everything in the trailer coming a mile away. Plus, you can forget about the gratuitous T&A. This thing has PG-13/MTV “screaming like retarded banshees” TRL audience written all over it. What’s the horror industry coming to nowadays when you can’t even rely on good ol fashion gratuitous T&A and cheap scares?

Starring Shannon Marie Woodward, Chace Crawford, Haley Bennett, AnnaLynne McCord, Marin Hinkle, Jessica Lowndes, Jake Weber, Shanna Collins, and Nina Siemaszko.

Molly’s lame horror movie comes to you October 31.
