Something dawned on me the other day. I was watching Universal Soldier: Day of Reckoning when I thought to myself, “Whatever happened to that Scott Adkins’ zombie flick ‘Re-Kill?’” Fearing I had simply missed its release, I jumped on Amazon to secure myself a copy. As it turns out, the damned thing hasn’t been released yet. Go figure.
So where in the hell is director Valeri Milev’s seemingly action-packed zombie movie? News about the flick has pretty much dried up on the internet, which is never a good sign. A quick search doesn’t turn up anything promising; outside of a December 2012 release date in the UK by Lionsgate, there’s not a lot of info currently making the rounds.
Here’s a synopsis in case you’ve forgotten all about “Re-Kill:”
It’s been 5 years since the outbreak that wiped out 85% of the world’s population, but the war between Re-Animates (Re-Ans) and Humans wages on. Most of the major cities are still uninhabitable. Within the few surviving cities, the Re-Ans have been segregated into “zones” and are policed by the R-Division of the QUASI S.W.A.T. Unit who hunt to re-kill the Re-Ans in the hope of quelling a second outbreak. “R-Division, Frontline” is America’s #1 TV show in this Post-Apocalyptic world. Weekly, the show follows different R-Division units on the battlefield as they work to keep America Safe and Re-An free. Jimmy, the videographer for the Outbreak Network, thought this week’s episode would be like every other. He was wrong. Through the lens of his eyes and camera, we see raw, revealed and uncut, that which could be mankind’s last day. The footage you are about to see is graphic and disturbing and may not be suitable for children. Viewer discretion is highly advised.
In addition to Scott Adkins, the flick also features Roger Cross, Daniella Alonso, Jesse Garcia, and Bruce Payne. I’m sure they too are wondering why “Re-Kill” hasn’t been released.
What’s the deal, Lionsgate? What’s going on, After Dark? Why aren’t people enjoying “Re-Kill” on DVD, Blu-ray, or digital download? Why isn’t this thing on VOD? I’m sure there are a lot of Scott Adkins fans who would gladly eat this stuff up. I’m one of them. Give us “Re-Kill,” already!
You can find the old-ish trailer below. As soon as an updated release date lands in my lap, I’ll be sure to spread the good word. In the meantime, keep your fingers crossed that it arrives at some point this year. 2013 needs more Scott Adkins.
