Why so Bloody, Carrie?

Here’s another look at a very bloody Chloe Moretz in director Kimberly Peirce’s upcoming remake of “Carrie”, based on the delightful Stephen King novel about a young girl discovering her place in the world, and having to choose between the cool football jock and the equally hunky, but moody leather jacket wearing outcast. Wait, that’s another movie entirely. Nevermind.

You won’t be surprised to learn that, this being a King story, there’s a religious nutcase in here somewhere, this time played by Julianne Moore. Like psychics, shady evil Guv’ment types, and questionable endings, religious nutcases are a King staple.

The quiet suburb of Chamberlain, Maine is home to the deeply religious and conservative Margaret White and her daughter Carrie. Carrie is a sweet but meek outcast whom Margaret has sheltered from society. Gym teacher Miss Desjardin tries in vain to protect Carrie from local mean girls led by the popular and haughty Chris Hargenson, but only Chris’ best friend, Sue Snell, regrets their actions. In an effort to make amends, Sue asks her boyfriend, high school heartthrob Tommy Ross, to take Carrie to prom. Pushed to the limit by her peers at the dance, Carrie unleashes telekinetic havoc.

“Carrie” also stars Julianne Moore, Judy Greer, Gabriella Wilde, Alex Russell, Max Topplin, Portia Doubleday, Cynthia Preston, Connor Price, and is scheduled to set the world on fire this October 18, 2013.
