“Ghostbusters 3” rumors are a dime a dozen these days. One day Bill Murray’s going to play a ghost, the next he’s not. It’s ridiculous, and frequently irritating. So when I stumbled across this extremely questionable article floating around Heeb Magazine, I made sure to keep my Captain Skeptical Cape securely fastened to my person. Honestly, separating the truth from the fiction is more fun than the idea of another sequel; there’s no way the film can live up to the outrageous hype that’s currently surrounding it, especially when goofy stories come and go at the drop of a hat. Is there any validity to the quote below? I guess we’ll know in a few days time. Until then, it’s kind of fun to speculate, isn’t it? Please don’t answer that.
Here’s the quote straight from the mouth of Ramis:
Something’s going to happen. Dan [Aykroyd] did write a spec GB3 screenplay a few years ago, but no one was motivated to pursue it. Now, 25 years after the original, there seems to be some willingness to proceed and apparently a substantial public appetite for a sequel. We’ll introduce some new young Ghostbusters, and all the old guys will be in it, too. Think Christopher Lloyd in Back to the Future … GB3 is progressing with plans to shoot next summer and release in 2011
My advice: Don’t hold your breath.
