This movie drove me nuts! I kind of like Will Smith, but give me a break! Plus, all of the reviews I have read day that he is an IRS agent. Did they not see the movie?? There is clearly a scene toward the end where we find out that he stole his brother's identity and that he is not an IRS agent at all. This movie was dark, depressing, and too hard to follow. We had three or four people walk out of the theater because they couldn't stand it any more. I don't usually review movies, but I couldn't help myself on this one!

And that deteriorates him as an actor? I was pointing out that his performance was great but the movie was not that good. To say, however, he has that much control is basically like saying he's the one making the movie. Sure he has some script control and some ideas to bring however ultimetely it's the director's/producer's decisions and ideas that get through. Sure, he's a big enough name so they will do what they can to make him happy. I'm not so arrogant to not see that but do you think it was Will Smith's idea to add the whole butterly idea in the movie? You think it was his idea to set a camera in this position during this shot? His idea to cut the shot this way or that or change story from the book so dramatically that it was way off? I don't think he flexes his "power" quite so. Sure he can add a line here or there and change a scene maybe but he's not the one behind the camera, in the edit room or drawing up story boards.

Don't call me an imbecile or dumb please.

Will Smith is simply an "OK" actor. He's a two-note wonder (which is better than being a ONE note wonder, I suppose).

In dramatic roles, he always plays the "Over The Top" hero. In adventure roles, he plays the same role, only it's even more one-dimensional. He should do more comedy--that's his forte, though he doesn't want to admit it because he got his start on TV, in comedy.

In his latest film, SEVEN POUNDS, one reviewer called it "Seven Pounds...of CHEESE." He may as well said HAM as well, because Smith OVERACTS in the movie.

The person who suggested it's not poor Will's FAULT that the movie he was in wasn't very good is imbecilic. He's a wealthy movie star, who has SCRIPT CONTROL on everything and anything he does. He has more control than any newcomer, he CAN change things up if it's not working to his liking. Trying to paint him as a victim because he makes poor choices is, well, DUMB.

Will Smith is a great actor. He always does a great job in his movies and is very talented. Just because a movie of his sucked does not mean that he is overrated. He did a great job in that movie even though it wasn't very good but that's not his fault at all. That's because of story and direction. Will Smith didn't make the movie but what he did for it was really good as is the case with a lot of his movies.
