Will Smith May Direct The Redemption of Cain

Will SmithYes, he’s a mega movie star who can open even the crappiest of films, but what Will Smith really wants to do is direct. And honestly, who is going to say No to the guy? If Will Smith wants to direct, then by God, Will Smith is going to direct.

The film in question is “The Redemption of Cain”, previously titled “The Legend of Cain” back in 2010, when Smith was originally attached to star. Smith still plans to do his Big Willy Style in front of the camera, but he might also end up behind it, making “Redemption of Cain” his feature directorial debut. Maybe.

“Cain” is an original script from Caleeb Pinkett, sibling of Jada, aka Mrs. Will Smith, and will re-tell the tale of sinful brothers Cain and Abel from the Bible. Apparently there is a vampire aspect to the story that wasn’t in any of the bibles recounting the tale. Or at least, it’s not in any of the bibles I read. I’m not sure if that’s still in play, but it would certainly be cool if it was.

Smith is currently busy shooting M. Night Shyamalan’s “After Earth”, which he co-stars with his son Jaden. Like I said, the Smiths like to keep things in the family. Hey, more power to ’em that they can’t get enough of one another.

By the way, the painting below is of Cain and Abel by the Italian painter Tiziano Vecelli. I added it with this story because, well, it’s appropriate, and plus, I can’t figure out what’s going on with Abel as he’s falling…
