Comments on: Will Smith to Magically Appear in I am Legend Sequel

Okay — I have it. Not to take away from the original suggestion.

It’s a “the ending was a dream/premonition sequence” — Robert Neville tells them to get in the coal shoot (or whatever that crawl space was). He turns and with the next big crash against the glass – he has a dream sequence. Sees his daughter as should would have been (had she lived) – she tells him “follow the butterfly daddy.”

At that moment the momentus crash happens and the glass breaks into the shape of a butterfly (as it did in the movie).

Then he imagines/dreams possible scenarios. 1) butt heads suicide bomber (the official ending), 2) butt heads then chokes the grenade down it’s throat (hides in “file cabinet” we didn’t see in the official ending) or 3) throws grenade thru butterfly whole — kills all of them and the safety glass suppresses some of the blast and the rest slams behind “cabinet” un-conscious. The woman and boy escape in the morning assuming he’s dead while he lays un-conscious out of sight.

why don’t they just do a sequel and start it with the alternate ending in which will smith lives and carry on from there. That way those who hadnt seen the alternate ending could see it. If this doesnt work they can stick to the normal ending and haev will just badly injured from the grenade, and they could have one of the zombies drag him away after the explosion, injured but alive, and go from there

As long as Diesel was not shown actually getting killed (not counting that cheap looking DVD extra) anything is possible with XXX, Smith’s death is another thing. A prequel to me would be kind of depressing because the ending is already known but a sequel with other character could work, kind of too bad Smith has to be involved, and I mean that only in terms that his character died in the first one.

Well if Vin diesel can come back in Triple X Will smith should be able to do it…. ya know what I mean

Problem with the alternate ending on the DVD is that its an ALTERNATE ending, whatever problems people had with the theatrical ending, that is the OFFICIAL ending of the movie.

Maybe they’re going to use the alternate ending from I AM LEGEND to carry the story on?

That alternate ending was much better and was how the original book intended anyways so hopefully they’ll go from there.
