The heroes of M. Night Shymalan’s “One Thousand A.E.” are the Smiths — Will and son Jaden — but they can’t do everything themselves. After all, saving the world is tiring work. They’ll need a couple of ladies to help out every now and then, and it looks like they’ll get it from Zoe Kravitz (“X-Men: First Class”) and British actress Sophie Okonedo (“Doctor Who”).
The two actresses are currently in negotiations to join the Smith family’s latest adventure, the sci-fi actioner “One Thousand A.E.” that Shyamalan will direct from a script by he, “Traffic’s” Stephen Gaghan, and “Book of Eli’s” Gary Whitta.
Kravitz would play Smith’s daughter, while Okonedo would play his wife. The two Smiths would play, of course, father and son, with the film set on an “Earth after it becomes inhospitable. The elder Smith is playing a hero, while Jaden is his son, considered a failure as a warrior. When the two crash-land on Earth, it is up to the son to save the dad.”
Methinks that involves Jaden learning to do the split-kicks and hang up his jacket, but I could be wrong.
Shyamalan, after the whiplash of “The Last Airbender”, could sure use himself a hit, and teaming up with the elder Smith is as “sure thing” as you can possibly get in today’s Hollywood. “One Thousand A.E.” is set to shoot early in 2012, with a 2013 release date penned in.
