Yikes, as if “The Fast and Furious” franchise didn’t already have enough beefcake, they might be adding Jason Statham’s dreamy abs into the mix. (Am I right, ladies? And, um, some of you guys out there?)
The boys at Twitch, who are nabbing scoops like a website that nabs scoops like nobody’s business lately, reports that Universal is currently in very early talks with Jason Statham for the “Expendables” actor to join the cast of the Justin Lin-helmed “Fast and Furious 6” and, possibly, “Fast and Furious 7” as well. Or, as they put it, things are in the “preliminary conversations” stages right now. Heck, it’s not as if Statham doesn’t know his way around a car. He spent most of “The Transporter” franchise in one, after all.
Speaking of which, the report also has the studio suits, buoyed no doubt by the gazillion box office take of “Fast Five”, looking to shoot parts 6 and 7 back-to-back in Europe. Which would explain why Lin has dumped all of his projects to concentrate on the sixth (and possibly seventh) movie. You gotta figure Universal has offered him a really nice deal that, no doubt, includes some back-end goodies. Yeah, I’d dump a movie starring a disgraced Governor for that, too.
So, the Stath potentially joining the franchise, and parts 6 and 7 shooting back-to-back? If you’re a “Fast and Furious” fan, this has gotta get your motors revving.
