Will There be some Winter Solderin’ in Captain America’s Future?

POTENTIAL SPOILERS BELOW. DO NOT READ ON IF YOU DO NOT WISH TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE THAN NECESSARY.

According to CHUD, Marvel Studios is seriously considering long-term plans for Captain America’s World War II sidekick, Bucky Barnes that may include those pesky Russkies and Bucky’s recent comic book exploits. That rumor has Marvel bringing The Winter Soldier into play for future “Captain America” movie sequels.

As fans of the Captain America comic book might already know, The Winter Soldier is an older version of Bucky, who, like his hero survived World War II. But unlike the Cap, Bucky went through one heck of a transformation at the hands of the Russians, and didn’t get the luxury of being frozen in ice for 60 years. The character eventually fought his Russian brainwashing to become a good guy again, and when Steve Rogers was recently “killed off” in the comic book, assumed the mantle of Captain America for a time.

CHUD says there are talks at Marvel Studios about leaving the room open for Bucky to go through his Winter Solder transformation at the end of the “First Avenger” movie so he can show up in a sequel. It’s either pave the way for the Winter Soldier, or bring back Bucky as an old man ala the “Ultimate” universe.

“The First Avenger: Captain America” enters the fray in 2011, with Chris Evans as Captain America and Joe Johnston directing.

I think the Winter Soldier would make a good foil for Captain America. Or at least, he’d be better than a giant floating head in a chair.

'Whoa, whoa, no one disses the head. No one!'
