Woody Allen somehow feels strangely relevant now, even though he never went anywhere: his film output triples those directors who are a fraction of his age and far less cynical. Call it a creative rebirth, now that he’s exclusively focusing on his directorial duties. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Allen’s next movie is called You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger and will star Antonio Banderas, Josh Brolin, Anthony Hopkins, and Naomi Watts. THR has more:
Gemma Jones, Freida Pinto and Lucy Punch round out the cast in the film that revolves around different members of a family, their tangled love lives and their attempts to try to solve their problems.
Like all Woody Allen films, the interest is in the execution and all of the small character quirks, not in the plot details. He could literally be making the same movies until the universe experiences heat death. The small, intimate nature of his films allows a yearly turn around, so they come quickly and often. To Woody Allen, that is probably the closest thing to heaven that he can imagine.
