Worst Case Scenario aka More Nazi Zombies

Despite five years stuck in pre-production hell, and nothing to show for it but three promo reels (not trailers, but promo reels, used to sell the film to potential investors), the Dutch horror film “Worst Case Scenario” has gotten itself a lot of exposure, much of it through word-of-mouth by horror enthusiasts. Harry Knowles over at AICN is even quoted on the film’s site as proclaiming: “Greatest Film Ever?” (question mark his). So what’s it about? German tourists. Nazi zombies. And oh yeah, soccer. Or football, as they call it over there. And I think they throw in an American to make fun of, too. Yay?

The sorta plot (from the film’s official site):

The movie takes off from the longstanding rivalry between Germany and Holland, and centers around the World Championship Soccer Games, during which the two countries are literally going to war. A group of friends attempt to escape the mayhem by traveling to a North Sea Island, where, according to the site, they “wind up in situations far, far worse.”

So when can you expect to see this thing at a local videostore near you? Um, in another five years? It’s taken them five years just to get the funding together, and according to the site, they’re just now (February 2008) gearing up for actual production.

I hope they do finish this thing, because those promo reels sure look bloody awesome…
