I haven’t seen writer/director Todd Freeman’s sci-fi/horror flick “Cell Count” yet, but that’s apparently going to change later this year. Indie distributor FilmBuff will unleash this low-budget shocker on various digital platforms this November, which means I should, in theory, be able to track down a copy with relative ease. That’s the idea, anyway. Those of you attending Sitges Film Festival and/or Celluloid Screams this October will be able to catch a screening at both events, so do look into that if you’re intrigued by what you see below.

Before continuing, let’s study this passage together:

The film, which had its world premiere at the 2012 Fantaspoa Film Festival in Brazil, is the story of Russell Carpenter, a man who reluctantly admits his wife, Sadie, into an experimental treatment facility for her life-threatening disease. While locked in this prison-like surrounding, they, along with six others, are unknowingly subjected to a cure that might just be worse than the disease itself.

“Cell Count”, which stars Robert McKeehen (“Leverage”), Haley Talbot (“Grimm”), Ted Rooney (“Boardwalk Empire”), and Daniel Baldwin (“Grey Gardens”), is hanging out below. And don’t let the inclusion of Daniel Baldwin throw you off; this one looks a bit more polished than the majority of his recent efforts. I realize that’s not saying much, but you’re going to have to trust me.

Author: Todd Rigney

Todd was raised on a steady diet of Hollywood blockbusters, late-night Cinemax programming, and USA’s “Up All Night,” which may explain why his taste in movies is more than a little questionable. When he isn’t providing news and reviews for Beyond Hollywood, he can be found lounging lazily on his couch, perched in front of his television, or dwelling in places where direct sunlight can be easily avoided. He's happily married, in his 30's, and totally badass. If you'd like to reach Todd, you can follow him on Twitter or send him email/scoops to todd (at) beyondhollywood.com.

For the record the top production still shows Dr Victor Brandt (left) played by Christopher Toyne (“Leverage”) and Russell Carpenter, played by Robert McKeehan (“Grimm”, “Leverage.”)
