Writers Strike Stalls Castlevania and Ironbow
Castlevania Movie, Ironbow (2009) Movie — By Nix on December 5, 2007
No haunted castles in 2008, it would appear. (Wait, “Castlevania” is about a haunted castle, right?) The ongoing writer’s strike has claimed two more victims — the videogame-to-movie adaptation “Castlevania” and the William Tell biopic “Ironbow”. “Castlevania” was slated to go into production in April under the direction of Sylvain White, and “Ironbow”, to be directed by Kevin Reynolds, was slated for next spring. Both films have been temporarily halted because of script concerns.
More:
Both films were unplugged because they needed additional script work that wasn’t possible because of the writers strike. They join the list of such previously scratched films as the Johnny Depp starrer “Shantaram” at Warner Bros., the Tom Hanks starrer “Angels & Demons” at Sony and the Oliver Stone-directed Bruce Willis starrer “Pinkville” at United Artists.
The “Castlevania” script was written by Paul W.S. Anderson, so I guess that means all 9 people who were anxiously awaiting this videogame-to-movie adaptation is letting out a sigh of relief at the news. The film was also budgeted at $40 million, which is pretty incredible for a movie based on a game barely anyone has ever heard of.

Hardly anybody has heard of? Thats an extreamly ignorant comment. Look at the stats on sales of all versions and incarnations of the video game and how it continues to be a money making franchise. Look I can understand if you could care less about it but that doesn’t allow you to make false statments in order to diminish something your simply not into.
However I do admit that I am glad this has stopped and I hope it goes under. I know there is almost no way they can do this franchise any good with a movie. It would take an extrodinary writer and director to really do this movie justice. Otherwise we’ll just end up with another “Doom” failure.
Fuck you Nix. I could care less about the movie, but that game was a classic. Everyone has heard of it. Pull your head out of your ass douche bag.
Aaaaaaaaaaw whatsammata did I make fun of your favoritest game in the whole wide world? Poor wittle wittle baby. Let mommy kiss it and make it better.
*GASP* Back to the abyss with ye, abominable troll!
