Not content with just Mulder and Scully, FOX has added three more names to its cast for the upcoming “X-Files” sequel. Rapper Xzibit, Amanda Peet (“The Whole Nine Yards”) and comedian Billy Connolly will be joining returning stars David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson in the sci-fi sequel for writer/director Chris Carter.
Xzibit and Peet will play fellow FBI agents to David Duchovny’s Mulder and Gillian Anderson’s Scully in the supernatural thriller with a stand-alone story, not a sequel or continuation of the hit 1998 feature adaptation. Citing a policy of secrecy surrounding the plot line, Fox would not confirm any details regarding the three actors’ roles.
No word on what role Connolly will be playing. You know, I haven’t heard a thing about the Cigarette Smoking Man. Was he even still alive at the end of the TV series? And if he wasn’t, couldn’t they just, you know, clone the character or something? No one stays dead on that show.
