X-Men First Class Ready to Cry Havok? No Kick-Ass Cyclops?

Earlier in the day it looked like a sure thing that “Kick Ass’s” Aaron Johnson would be playing young Cyclops in Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class”, but now that seems to be in some doubt. EW claims to have it on good authority that Johnson will not be Cyclops in “First Class” — or playing any part in the movie at all, actually.

EW goes on to offer up this bit of casting rumor: Lucas Till (“Hannah Montana: The Movie”, top left) is currently in negotiations to play Havok in “First Class”. Or perhaps not. The article hedges their bets and claims it could all be a ruse, because, apparently, that’s something the studio feels like doing — lying about casting. Why, I couldn’t tell you, since it serves no purpose that I can see.

If Havok does appear in “First Class”, it would be quite awesome. I’ve always been a fan of Havok, aka Alex Summers, little bro to the X-Men’s leader, Cyclops. Then again, it could just be the costume (not the new fangled one he’s sporting below, natch). Or those groovy plasma blasts he fires. Probably a combination of both.

I normally stay away from commenting on Fox and Sony's Marvel movies, but WTF?! Havok in X-Men First Class?! maybe it's just a cameo showing were Scott and Alex's origins and when they got separated. Knowing Fox though maybe they stupidly put him on the team.

They've already gone off course Ulik. Banshee wasn't a part of the team until “The all new, all different/Uncanny” era and yet he's been cast. I think adding the origin and having Havok on team may work. He shouldn't stay, though if anything have him leave because he feels overshadowed. I actually had an X-men storyline where the original five had moved on and the new team was mentored by Cyke and Logan with Havok being team leader. This isn't going to be “The First Class' comic book. More like a mix between the first volumes of “first class” and the later ones that had the uncanny team.

Yeah I noticed the Banshee thing too, the problem is that Fox doesn't write X-Men comics,so messing with the continuity too much will create problems in the future. I'll watch it on bootleg or a used DVD when it comes out. Anyway good to see you back Dedpool! AND NIX thanks for the info we get from you every week dude!

The thing is this is the movie universe so continuity doesn't really matter persay. If this is a reboot, than this is the begining of a new movie universe for the X-men and maybe we can start to see some better stories told. Some Sentinels, maybe the MRD or something like that. It'd be better than X-men vs the brotherhood part 7. This allows them to start a new continuity that has nothing to do with the original movies, and is only based on the comics but lets them tell new stories. I'm not opposed to it at all. I loved X-men:Evolution and Wolverine and The X-men and they both took liberties but told good stories.
