X-Men First Class Trailer Arrives Tomorrow, New Pic of Magneto

Ready for Matthew Vaughn’s “X-Men: First Class”? To be perfectly honest with you, I was ready for it this past Sunday during the Super Bowl, but it never arrived. Well you won’t have to wait TOO much longer. The trailer will be premiering tomorrow on the movie’s Facebook page, which is currently showing off a new movie logo (left, click to enlarge).

“X-Men: First Class” charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga, and reveals a secret history of famous global events. Before mutants had revealed themselves to the world, and before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Not archenemies, they were instead at first the closest of friends, working together with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop Armageddon. In the process, a grave rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Meanwhile, EW has premiered this new pic of Michael Fassbender as Magneto (below) looking very stylish and in full costume. One presumes all pretenses of friendship with Charles Xavier have disappeared when ol Mags snapped this picture.

Starring Michael Fassbender, January Jones, James McAvoy, Nicholas Hoult, Kevin Bacon, Jason Flemyng, Rose Byrne, Jennifer Lawrence, Lucas Till, Zoë Kravitz, Oliver Platt, Morgan Lily, Edi Gathegi, Caleb Landry Jones, and directed by Matthew Vaughn.

Class is out June 3, 2011.

I’m disappointed that Cyclops got shafted because of Wolverine. What Bryan Singer did to Cyclops is unfair. Bryan Singer focused to much on Wolverine because of his huge crush on Hugh Jackman.

But now that Matthew Vaughn is doing the X-Films, I’m really hoping that Scott Summers aka Cyclops will finally be given the lead role and spotlight he truly deserves. Cyclops is the creation of two of the most famous American comic creators like Stan Lee and Jack Kirby. So I’m confident that Matthew Vaughn will respect Cyclops character.

It wasn’t about Hugh Jackman, he was a nobody pretty much. It was about the popularity of the character. Ask most people who they went to see the X-men movies for and they’ll tell you Wolverine, not Cyclops. As a long time X-men fan, I was also disappointed with their portrayal and lack of use of Scott. That said it wasn’t until after the films the character truly became cool to me in the comics. They need to focus on that aspect next time they bring him to film, as even the X-men Anime seems to be painting him more badass. Same went for his “Wolverine and the X-men” portrayal, badass!

Well all of my friends knows who Cyclops really is. I think in popularity Cyclops is second to Wolverine. 8 out of 10 people that I’ve talked about the X-Men knows Cyclops. They usually say that he’s the X-Men’s fearless leader and some even compare him to Captain America or Superman.
