I can definitely see the fanboy interest in a property like Brian K. Vaughan’s comic book series “Y: The Last Man”. What (male) comic book geek wouldn’t? I mean, it’s got monkeys. Adding monkeys into anything is an automatic win.
Anyways, after being left for dead a couple of times, including the lost of a potential star in Shia LaBeouf and a bigshot director in D.J. Caruso, our hero Yorick (the “Y” in “Y: The Last Man”) has gotten yet another new lease on life. New Line Cinema has now hired former commercials director Dan Trachtenberg to make his feature film debut on the adaptation.
Created by Vaughan and Pia Guerra, “Y: The Last man” follows Yorick, “an escape artist who is the last survivor of a mysterious plague that has killed every male mammal in the world. With his pet monkey, he sets out to find what might have wiped out the world’s male chromosomes.”
Hey, you gotta have a pet monkey. What kind of post-apocalyptic tale would this be without a pet monkey?
So you may be wondering. What exactly would a “Y: The Last Man” movie look like? Possibly something like this fanmade short film…
