If you’ve seen the recent Red Band trailer for Fede Alvarez’s upcoming remake of Sam Raimi’s “Evil Dead”, then you can probably guess that there are going to be some really juicy gore-tastic scenes from the movie that are guaranteed to make you squirm in your seats.

(Go ahead, you can watch that trailer below. I’ll wait…)

See what I mean? Even in that Red Band trailer there are a couple of scenes (the whole knife-through-tongue one included) that will get any reasonable MPAA board member all queasy inside their little bellies.

So it’s no surprise that Alvarez has taken to Twitter to let everyone know that the original cut of his film was slapped with an NC-17 rating, forcing him to make more cuts and re-submit for an “R”. An “R” is an absolute must, because most theaters (re: the majority of theaters) will absolutely not screen anything more than an “R”, including NC-17 films.

Here’s a very proud Alvarez:

“Evil Dead”, starring Jane Levy, Shiloh Fernandez, Lou Taylor Pucci, Jessica Lucas, and Elizabeth Blackmore, terrorizes theaters this April 12, 2013.
