Hallelujah! How long have I been waiting for “The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles” to come to DVD? Like, forever. Maybe decades. (Okay, probably not decades, but close.) The first DVD volume arrives October 23, 2007, with two more volumes (for a total of three) to follow. I’m really not sure how they’re going to stretch this thing into 3 volumes, since the show only ran for one year. I guess each volume won’t include the entire show, but sets. The news comes courtesy of TVshowsonDVD. The TV series itself focused on (as the name implies) a young Indiana Jones, played by Sean Patrick Flanery, and premiere in 1992 and ran for, well, just that year.
The now legendary, almost mythical character of Indiana Jones once had a childhood. Every episode starts out with the elderly man that he is in the 1990’s getting into a specific situation where he has to tell a story from his past. The stories go back to when he was ten years old and on a world tour with his father, and to his late-teens when he fought in World War I.
It was really one of my favorite shows on TV, and had everything you wanted — action, adventure, and romance. Plus, it made me a lifelong fan of Flanery. No doubt the impending release of the DVD is to help promote Spielberg’s upcoming Indiana Jones 4.
