Your Best (and Most Colorful) Look at Spider-Man in the Reboot Yet

I don’t know if it’s the lighting on the film’s L.A. movie set (which they’re currently trying to pass off as New York), or if this is just what director Marc Webb is going for, but man, that sure is one bright looking costume Spidey is running around in (via MTV).

There are certainly a heck of a lot more color to that costume than I thought from that first look we got a few days ago, but of course, this could just be the “stunt costume” used for various special effects work to be done in post or some such. Who knows what craziness takes place on those Hollywood productions, especially in post?

Regardless, notice the mechanical webshooters on his wrists. That should end all rumors and speculations about that little subject.

Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse and directed by Marc Webb.

The web spins July 3, 2012.

Wow, I’m glad I saw the first image when he didn’t have the mask because if I saw this one first I would be pissed.

    • B-Flash

      The eyes look smaller -_-

So if the Spidey suit had a child with a track suit, this is what we’d get.
The red eyes are killing me and I’m hoping like the “hobbit feet” from the cap set pics, the silver on the shoes is only for the stunt man to run in.

Saw a close up of the web-shooter, looks cool, but all the extra blue on the gloves is not working for me. And a teenager is supposed to make that suit? Wow!

    • B-Flash

I’m with you on the gloves they dont look good at all, the design makes it look like a cast, I hope your right about the shoes because they do match the web shooter -_-

  • THT3000

    Oh, god. It’s like… it’s like… that Japanese show.

  • Ulik

That looks disgusting ugh! Neon red and blue? The design itself looks like crap.

    • Juggernaut

Agreed. That picture is dreadful! I’m not sure what they are going for here. I understand wanting to distance themselves from the Raimi films but this is a bit drastic!

  • Hela

Its just the set lighting, but I think the suit looks awesome, very well done for something alittle different I think it works, and the eyes are fine, they are no bigger then the previous films eyes so whats the big deal. its just some poor set photos, you’ll change your mind when you see a trailer on how cool this is gonna be.

    • B-Flash

That’s the problem most people wanna see the big eye lenese like the comic.

  • Brian

Looks worse than that 80’s live action version.

  • Ulik

LOL! Are they sure this isn’t Ben Rielly or another clone?

    • Juggernaut

It kinda resembles the Spider-Man Unlimited version. don’t know about this… the jury’s still out!

      • http://www.originalgeekspodcast.com/ Dedpool

I’m not completely hating it but I’m not loving it either. I’m all for some change, but I need well lit pic of the whole suit. Something along the lines of the first reveal.

  • Drsftpork

I think it looks awesome. They did the faithful comic costume in the first movie, and if this costume shows the amount of imagination that will go into the rest of this film, I think we’ll all be pleasantly surprised.

  • Shazam!

It’s tough to say what we’re really looking at here as we have no context whatsoever for these pics. It’s obvious that the first one is being lit from the front with some red lighting – hence the red eyes – I think that’s the reason it’s coming off all neon.

With regards to the design – let’s be honest here – when in any superhero flick do we ever get a stand still solid shot of the costume on film? I’m not really liking the look of some of the lines, but my feeling is when Spidey is in motion, properly lit, finished fx, yadda yadda yadda, he’ll look stellar!
My hope is that the film has the same tone as that first pic we saw – his origin is after all a bit of a dark tale – I’m holding out judgement until a trailer.

  • Gavaudin

Looks like a train wreck, honestly!!! Did Tim Burton design this costume? The costume from the Raimi movies looked awesome. I had hopes that they may make the eyes bigger not smaller. This version looks like an olympic ice skating outfit gone awry. Hopefully Marvel just didn’t Trash their most valuable property here with a weak reboot. Oh well, guess we’ll just have to see.

    • Ulik

@Gavaudin, LOL! Oh God! LOL! Why did you say that! That’s hilarious now I can’t get that picture out of my mind of Spidey doing triple spins, twists, loops, spirals and very feminine leaps with his hands in the air after his landing on the ice. LOL! OMG! LOL! Raimi’s Spidey designs were great! They looked liked the classic costume with a special touch of solidity in the webbing lines. Very innovative but stuck to the original costume. This one just…..sucks.
