Via Horrorbid, here’s your first clear look at the new Freddy Krueger’s scarred mug, as played by Jackie Earle Haley, who is currently kicking all kinds of ass on the TV show “Human Target”. (Give it a shot if you haven’t.)

Freddy Krueger (Jackie Earle Haley) returns in “A Nightmare on Elm Street,” a contemporary re-imagining of the horror classic. A group of suburban teenagers share one common bond: they are all being stalked by Freddy Krueger, a horribly disfigured killer who hunts them in their dreams. As long as they stay awake, they can protect one another…but when they sleep, there is no escape.

Starring Jackie Earle Haley, Rooney Mara, Kyle Gallner, Katie Cassidy, Thomas Dekker, Kellan Lutz, Clancy Brown, Connie Britton, Lia D. Mortensen, Charles E Tiedje, and directed By Samuel Bayer.

I want Robert to play Freddy again! This guy looks nothing scary…

This guy looks NOTHING like Freddy and this WILL ruin the movie. Watching the trailers for this already ruined the movie for me. He doesn't even sound like the original Freddy. For anyone who says, “Wow, like OMG, this movie is going to be so kick-ass”, you're like the new movie, stupid.

You're absolutely right! He doesn't look like the old Freddy. And that's good. I grew up with Freddy. I haven't found him the slightest bit scary since the first film. I mean they basically turned him into a vaudville act with claws. I watched them because they made me laugh not because they were good horror flicks. From what I've seen, and reviews I've read (majority of them were good), Haley is a great Freddy. Better? No. Different? Yes. He's alot more of a MONSTER than Englund's Freddy, and that alone is good to hear. You can watch oldschool ELm street for campy, corny Freddy, but me I'm gonna watch this for messed up, truly disturbing Freddy. If theywanted that same feel it would just be another boring campy sequel. Go watch Freddy Vs. Jason for that.

I hope for the sequel they start to have him mess with people's nightmares more, and play on their fears. But nothing cheesye like turning people into roaches, marrionettes(Okay I liked that one) or videogames.
