Your First Confirmed Look at Captain America’s Costume

Whoa, are these the real deal? It sure sounds like it. The boys at AICN got these very fine looking sketches (below) from a reader, and they’ve since been confirmed by the boys at Joblo, who saw them last week, as the real deal. This is actually what Chris Evans’s Captain America costume will look like in the upcoming movie. So until Marvel hits up AICN and gets them to remove these, here they are — your first look at what Chris Evans will actually look like in costume in Joe Johnston’s upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger”, due out in 2011. Obviously Evans didn’t pose for these; they’re pretty well-known Captain America poses from the comic books, with Evans’s face photoshopped in.

Also in the cast, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, and Toby Jones.

Cool Stories From Zergnet

I love the design. It's just not WWII enough. This could easily be a modern 21stCnetury design and it would work. I think they should have made it a little more “Art Deco” if they wanted to go with the “futuristic” look. Art Deco is style that the designers of the 40's thaught would be the “look of the future”. The sides of the helmet look “empty” without the wings and should have a Bold “Art Deco” style with painted on wings but similar to the “A”. Other than that I like it. It sort of has a “military police” look though.

You gotta remember these are still artist renditions. The pants will probably be more like fatigue pants of the era, and everything won't be so shiny. Though I agree, the way it looks right now would be perfect for the modern version. I think a bulkier helmet maybe would make it look a bit better for WWII. But I'll be damned if I'm not for this! And you beat Ulik! Bout time!! LOL.

It's definitely not nearly as WWII-ish as I thought it would be. But the actual costume should be more “well-worn” of course. These are the “polished” look at it.

I just dont think this is going to do as well as the fans are hoping…it is just too cartoony…might be best to make it a comeday as there is just no way to take a costume like that seriously…but who knows??? stranger things have happened….

Thank you much Dominique. You beat me too it! I was about to say the same thing, or at least something along those lines.

That's a damn good look. Utilitarian but still recognizably Capt. America with the right amount of a fantasy/comic book vibe. Can't wait to see it as the real deal
