Your First Confirmed Look at Captain America’s Costume

Whoa, are these the real deal? It sure sounds like it. The boys at AICN got these very fine looking sketches (below) from a reader, and they’ve since been confirmed by the boys at Joblo, who saw them last week, as the real deal. This is actually what Chris Evans’s Captain America costume will look like in the upcoming movie. So until Marvel hits up AICN and gets them to remove these, here they are — your first look at what Chris Evans will actually look like in costume in Joe Johnston’s upcoming “Captain America: The First Avenger”, due out in 2011. Obviously Evans didn’t pose for these; they’re pretty well-known Captain America poses from the comic books, with Evans’s face photoshopped in.

Also in the cast, Samuel L. Jackson, Sebastian Stan, Hayley Atwell, Hugo Weaving, and Toby Jones.

i dont understand what me never wearing a combat uniform has to do with anything, all the costumes in the x-men movies were shitty and i didn't have to wear them to know it

Your statement alone answers your question. The look is inspired by real life military gear, suped up for Cap. Also it's WWII and the straps and such were a staple of military gear then, alot morseo than now. The straps themselves hold up the shoulder pads.

You are correct but in the last decade they've been making sure to show that Cpa was a SOLDIER before a superhero. As for the suspenders, they arent suspenders at all but a modified military harness. The pouches which you say Cap don't have, he does. First Steve Rogers started wearing them after he got a reboot on his series with John Casady on the art, and it continued after that.

Then there's BuckyCap and his more militaristic look: http://blog.newsok.com/nerdage/files/2008/02/f1

It's alright but the colors kind of bother me. I think they should have stuck to the classic colors of Old Glory. Dark red and navy blue.

Also I don't like the shoulder badges.

Shoulder badges are inspired by the Ultimate and BuckyCap look. And the color scheme will be muted for the actual costume. This concept art. Final concept art I think but still not an actual picture of the gear. Plus the lighting, and environment will add to the grittyness.

Capt. A looks AWSOME! navy blue would be a better color.. either way he looks believable. i just hope he's not all clean and shiny in the actual movie.

I like the costume design my only gripe is that I think the helmet should be a bit heavier to fit the fact that its WW2. I had hoped that they would go with the ultimate ww2 costume but i still like the design.

I realize it's a drawing but along the lines of “too shiny” doesn't the shield look way different than what we saw in Iron Man 2? It had an almost half-built look to it.

It won't be all shiny in the film. At least for most of it. It will probably be when he first puts it on. The Shield we saw in IM and IM2 was an unfinished prototype according to the companion comic that came with IM from Walmart and wiki.

Screw the uniform, my only gripe is Evans as our beloved Captain-A.
