Your First Look at Luc Besson’s Taken

By Nix | July 3, 2007 (4:56 am)

Okay, so the French actioner “Taken” (written and made by Frenchies but shot in English, actually) isn’t really Besson’s movie, since he’s only a writer and producer on the film, and it’s actually more like Pierre Morel’s movie, since he’s directing. Then again, we are talking about Besson, and the guy is a force, so any movie with his name attached has more than a few traits of the man in it. So I’m going to call “Taken” a Luc Besson movie and go from there. In any case, filmick points out that a behind-the-scenes clip from “Taken”, including some nifty car crashes, chases, and a brief interview with star Liam Neeson, has been posted on YouTube by EuropaCorp.

A former spy (Neeson) relies on his old skills to save his estranged daughter (Grace), who has been forced into the slave trade.

Taken is directed by Pierre Morel and written by Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. It stars Liam Neeson, Maggie Grace, Goran Kostic, and Katie Cassidy, and is due out in France February 27, 2008.

No idea about a U.S. release date as yet.
