Your First Look at the Cast of X-Men First Class in Costume – UPDATED

Okay, so you see them in costume only from the waist up, but that’s more than you previously saw aside from all those set images with the cast in ridiculous ’60s-era clothes. Here’s the first cast photo, which is the real thing despite its very photoshop-py looks. MSN was apparently the culprits who released it before FOX wanted them to, and the site has since pulled them as a result.

According to Heat Vision/Collider, the characters/actors in the picture are, from left to right: Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost aka the White Queen, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as the Beast, Lucas Till as Havoc, Zoe Kravitz as Angel Salvadore, Jennifer Lawrence as Raven Darkholme aka Mystigue, and James McAvoy as Charles Xavier.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, “First Class” is in session June 3, 2011.

UPDATED: Yes, the cast photo looks to be real after all. MSN, who jumped the gun yesterday, has now put the bigger version of the photo back on their site. Click on the image below to get a bigger look at the cast in costume, then head over here for three more images.

what the shit! thank you Hollywood….again.

don’t thank Hollywood. Thank Fox, trying desperately to hang on to their license before Disney swoops in.

I don’t get it, why does everyone hate it? What’s wrong with it?

I don’t know only EVERYTHING!!! The costumes are bad. I see that it is a twist on the original uniforms but come on! Emma Frost looks okay i guess. Moira McTaggert looks okay too. Maybe a little too colorful. I have a major problem with Professor X with hair. Beast’s look is atrocious. Azazel looks absolutely ridiculous. The cheesy photoshop job is the biggest problem. Ugh! What a mess.

Someone tell me this is a fan made photoshopped joke.

Well, I remember how goofy the leaked pictures from the first Singer movie looked, so who knows how they’ll come off exactly onscreen, but I wasn’t expecting to see Xavier in a costume and I’m reminded of the yellow spandex line from “X-1″

Why Xavier and Magneto are in the costumes makes no sense at all. There is a way to do an X-Men origin story. So far Fox does not know how to make one. First X-Men Origins:Wolverine and now this! Enough already! Please Fox just let Marvel get back the rights and do the merry mutants some justice.

Yeah, I think there might be a good story to tell where Xavier gets into costume and goes head-to-head against Erik Lehnsherr, but…

  • Shazam!

So I presume from this that the story is they all start off as one big happy photoshope enduced family (with a thing for suspenders) until along comes the Hellfire Club – Magneto wants to kill them, but the prof wants to concince them to join his black leather club – through a million out of place cameos and the prof. shaving his head out of solidarity for Emma Frosts wardrope – and we arrive somewhere between the end of Wolverine (which is present day where Cyclops is a teenager) and the first X-Men which was 10 years ago when Cyclops was an adult?

Fox… great job! Remind me again how Emma Frost was a teen in Wolverine and then an adult in this movie set 40 years before. Again… great job!

HAHAHAHA! That whole ‘Wolverine’ movie should be stricken from the record. You are absolutely right with the out of place gratuitous cameos and continuity problems. I realize that Fox pretty much put the kibosh on these films from the start by having the cast in the first film be comprised of the “in” characters. However they were trying to bring some sort of recognizability to the film in order to have comic fans see it. I can understand having Cyclops,Jean, Storm with Wolverine and Rogue to be recruits. The nail in their coffin was to distrupt the original line up. Having a teenage Iceman in the first one kinda ruined any chance of a real origins movie. Beast could have worked since he was older and they allude to him being a member from a long time ago. The kicker was having Angel, a founding member of the team, play a walk on part in X3! Oh well. What can you do. Fox strikes again with this one!

LOL. is that sinestro next to ema frost? did one of the guys from green lantern accidentally walk into the wrong set, like spiderman in the first x-men film?

I really wasn’t impressed with ‘X-men 3: The Last Stand’ or ‘Wolverine’ and when a superhero film fails it ruins the comic. I won’t be rushing to watch this prequel simply for the fact it’s Fox and they have a bad track record so far. When all the hype has died down I might watch it on DVD to see Fassbender and McAvoy.

Disney should buy the rights back and do a story arc with Cable (played by Dolph Lundgren) who goes back in time and sorts the whole mess out by killing Rupert Murdoch who turns out to really be Apocalypse.
