Your First Look at the Turtles of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (Sort of)

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Cartoon

Most of you probably already know by now that the ninja turtles that will be showing up in Jonathan Liebesman’s currently in-production reboot “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” will be of the mo-cap variety, similar to how Joss Whedon did the aliens in “The Avengers” and James Cameron pulled off the Na’vi in “Avatar”.

So it shouldn’t as much of a surprise to you to see actors in mo-cap suits on the set of Liebesman’s movie, which you can see before. Of course, what the “turtles” are doing/situation may be a tad SPOILERIFIC, so of course take a gander at the set images below at your own risk.

Also, Deadline reports that professional bad guy William Fichtner has joined the cast of “TMNT”. The trade doesn’t know what role Finchtner will be playing, only that it’s “a lead with iconic stature in the Turtles’ mythology”.

Shredder? Krang? Casey Jones? Nah, it can’t possibly be Casey Jones. Just look at that face. Fichtner was born to play bad guys. Plus, he’s way too old for Casey Jones, who would have to be about Megan Fox’s age. He is her love interest, after all.

The turtles rise next year June 6, 2014.

William Fichtner

id say hes going to be baxter stockman

    • Dedpool

Boo!!! I want Black Baxter. He’s much more fun and interesting. The last two shows had him. I’d love for like Harold Perineu to play him.
Fitchner seems better fit for a robot body of the Utrom/Kraang.

  • Jonathan Jones

Those set photos are not such big spoilers. Just looks like the heroes get captured at one point. Don’t heroes ALWAYS get captured at some point? And then fight to escape? Absolutely yes.

The movie is called Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles they should take out the word “Ninja” cause I none of these actor no any martial arts unless they stunt double that do martial arts they ok. But Shredder better be Asian or an actor that knows martial art. I feel like Michael Bay going to destroy the TMNT. He need a fan who grow up to the to TMNT I’m talk about the old TMNT with the turtles in the turtle suit he got so lazy he using and avatar look smh but then again who knows it mite look good. Why Meagan Fox beside yes she got but her acting not so good. And this movie better be showing the best looking pizza NYC has to offer on the movie. I think the only real I love pizza when I was a kid watching the TMNT movie in the 90’s see them eat pizza I became a big fan of pizza lol I just hope Michael Bay know what he doing. Seems like a lot of director lost the read to make good movie like back in the day movie director to pride in there work like it was art to them they knew they get paid good but they did it for the look on the people face when they saw the movie how happy and impress they was about the movie it use to be about the fans now in only the money who cares about the fans movie now are sloppy. So Michael Bay I hope you lissen to the fans who love TMNT they you make us impress with your work.

WOW! Learn English. I am dumber having read this.

      • Fuck Michael Bay

Took the words right out of mouth. While I agree with mostly all he said (or I think I did, I could barely understand) I’d rather he wrote something I hated in English, than something I agree with in.. whatever this is.

  • Fuck Michael Bay

    So somehow this is Shredder…

We went from a bad ass Japanese guy with a voice to match Darth Vaders to…. William Fichtner… Great actor.. but he’s not Shredder aka Aroku Saki (which they removed from the entire mythology btw)

Thanks for ruining another, and the biggest, part of my childhood Michael Bay! Can I interest you in some cancer?

    • Kal-El-1983

I agree with your sentiment. But allow me a bit of a nitpicking’s

Oroku Saki. How did they remove him though. I confess I haven’t watched any of the new incarnations.

      • Fuck Michael Bay

I knew I spelled it wrong.

Well they didn’t remove him entirely, I misspoke. From what I hear, Oroku Saki was just some guy that “Shredder” met while doing business in Japan.

If what I read is true, I don’t see why they even included Oroku Saki in the new movie at all.

Although, I’m honestly starting to come around. This movie will never be the TMNT greats from our childhood, but it still might be enjoyable. Plus I really like the actor that plays Michaelangelo.

        Okay, sorry for the ramble!

        • Kal-El-1983

I could eventually get over Shredder being a white guy now, still erks me though considering there are some awesome Japanese Actors out there (Ken Watanabe or Hiroyuki Sanada would have been bad ass in the role). But I don’t care for the overall feel it seems to have and I can’t not stand Megan Fox.

          • Dedpool

Yeah either would’ve been great. But I’m hoping they will be more like a cross between the 200’s toon with a Krang,/Utrom Shredder, and Oroku Saki would be the original Shredder and he takes his inspiration from him.

          • Kal-El-1983

!? They made Shredder an Utrom? Boy am I glad I didn’t watch that.

          • Dedpool

Don’t be! It was absolutely awesome!! You don’t know he’s an Utrom til about the middle of the second season. He handed the turtles their shells just about every time they fought. Him being an Utrom did not diminish his ruthlessness, or skill. But Utrom Shredder was Oroku Saki. Inspired by the original Demon Shredder, he created the persona of Oroku Saki to blend in and used the Shredder to found the Foot Clan.
The show payed a LOT of homage to the ORIGINAL Eastman and Laird run, but threw in stuff from the Mirage comics and the cartoon as well. And then it ended with the awesome crossover “Turtles Forever” with the 80’s turtles and crew. Good Times.
The new show is also really fun.
