It’s really not much of a surprise, but Warner Bros. has confirmed that Zack Snyder, director of “Watchmen,” “Man of Steel,” and the upcoming “Batman vs. Superman,” will indeed remain onboard the D.C. comic book boat and direct a “Justice League” movie as well.
Snyder directing a big-budget comic book movie is pretty much a no-brainer. He’s already done a “Justice League”-like superhero flick in “Watchmen,” and the guy’s fully immersed in Batman and Superman with “Man of Steel” and the ongoing “Batman vs. Superman.”
We are told that the studio’s plans for a Marvel Cinematic Universe-like offering will include using “Batman vs. Superman to “lead into ‘Justice League.’” And if you’re really nice, they might even make a “Wonder Woman” movie starring Gal Gadot, who is playing the Amazon Princess in the upcoming sequel. I wouldn’t hold my breath, though.
Superman himself, Henry Cavill will join Snyder for the third time ’round as Superman in the “Justice League” movie, with Ben Affleck expected to also return as Batman. Recent casting news for “Batman vs. Superman” includes the addition of Sam Fisher as Cyborg, though it’s believed to be a small role. A set-up for the “Justice League” movie, from the sounds of it.
Bats takes on Supes in 2016. A team-up might (and I can’t stress this enough — might) come as early as 2018.
