Zhang Yimou Readies Three Guns
Amazing Tales: Three Guns (2010) Movie, Asian Movie News — By Nix on April 29, 2009 |
The last time we heard from Chinese director Zhang Yimou, he was busy orchestrating the opening ceremonies of the Summer Olympics in Beijing. Looks like he’s ready to get back behind the camera. His latest is a movie called “Amazing Stories: Three Guns”, which according to Variety, will be split into two parts, a suspense-thriller and a comedy. Other than that, there’s no other information on what the movie is about, although actors Sun Honglei, Ni Dahong, Xiao Shenyang and Wang Xiaohua are lined up to star.
Yimou’s last movie was 2006’s “Curse of the Golden Flower”, and before that, “The House of Flying Daggers”, which is currently on the remake chopping block courtesy of Sam Raimi and company. Besides “Three Guns”, Yimou is scheduled to choreograph a huge parade in October to mark the 60th anniversary of the Communist Party’s accession to power, cause ol Yimou is a company man like that.
Shooting on “Three Guns” is expected to begin in June, with a release date set for the Chinese New Year.
Below: Zhang Yimou’s last movie was “Curse of the Golden Cleavage” — er, I mean, “Curse of the Golden Flower”.
